About this role

As a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist, your ability to empathize with patients, specialized technical skills, and dedication to quality greatly enhance the overall success of imaging for diagnostic use in patient care in RRH Radiology. You perform Computed Tomography (CT) imaging and assist radiologists in performing CT interventional procedures. Images are obtained with good diagnostic quality while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients.

Day-to-day involves CT scanning and interventional CT-guided procedures, verifying patient identification with order/requisition, and utilizing clinical indications to assess procedure appropriateness. Administer IV contrast media after competency assessment and follow direct orders from radiologists for imaging and contrast via protocol. Monitor patient status and notify nurse/physician of changes in condition.

You collaborate with all modalities for mutual patient flow, attend hospital and departmental meetings, and provide on-call coverage for the CT Section of Radiology. Maintain accountability for timely service during unsupervised shifts and proper documentation in Radiant Care Connect EMR. Clean, restock, and prepare rooms daily while providing excellent customer service.

Employ ALARA principles and radiation safety based on New York State and Federal standards, appropriately maintain CT equipment, and provide 3D post-processed images of good quality. Trained in PACS software for sending to destinations like vRad, Powershare, RAPID. Perform transport duties as needed and receive verbal orders documented in EMR.

Requirements

  • Two-year college degree in Radiologic Technologist in Applied Science or equivalent
  • NYS license in Radiologic Technology or NYS permit with licensure within six months of employment
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification (ARRT-R) within six months of employment
  • NYS Injection Certification within six months of employment
  • Excellent computer skills required
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
