The CT Technologist I operates CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to protocols. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with radiologists. Delivers accurate and timely diagnostic results with strong attention to detail.

Daily tasks include verifying physician orders, screening for contraindications, and performing point-of-care creatinine testing for contrast studies. Administers contrast media following safety protocols and monitors for adverse reactions. Explains procedures to alleviate patient anxiety and provides clear instructions.

Collaborates with radiologists and healthcare team members for patient-centered care. Assists with interventional procedures like biopsies, setting up sterile fields. Reviews images for accuracy and documents clinical history to support diagnostics.

Maintains CT equipment through quality control checks and reports malfunctions promptly. Responds to emergencies such as contrast reactions per facility protocols. Adheres to radiation safety, infection control, and personal protective equipment guidelines.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of clinical experience acquired through an accredited radiologic sciences program required
  • 2-4 years of experience as a CT Technologist in an acute care hospital setting preferred
  • Proficiency in operating CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Ability to ensure patient safety and comfort while adhering to established protocols
  • Skills in preparing and positioning patients accurately for CT scans
  • Competence in maintaining CT equipment and ensuring proper functioning
  • Knowledge of aseptic, surgical, and radiologic techniques
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and teams

  • Prepares and positions patients appropriately for CT procedures using suitable techniques
  • Ensures accurate patient identification, verifies physician orders, and screens for contraindications
  • Performs point-of-care creatinine testing and calculates GFR for contrast studies
  • Administers contrast media as ordered and monitors patients for adverse reactions
  • Explains procedures to patients to alleviate fear and anxiety
  • Collaborates with radiologists and healthcare team members for accurate care
  • Assists with interventional CT procedures such as biopsies or drain placements
