Perform a variety of complex, specialized, and technical tasks associated with high field strength magnets. This role focuses on cardiac MRI procedures in a comprehensive facility with 1048 beds and advanced diagnostic centers.

Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedures and assist cardiologists with cardiac protocoling and performance. Start I.V.s, administer contrast media per protocol, and evaluate scans for technical quality. Position patients using immobilization equipment and load power injectors for contrast administration.

Work day shifts of four 10-hour periods Monday through Friday with no weekends, holidays, or call. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow across multiple MR sites while maintaining accurate records and charging procedures in EHR. Provide for psychological and physical needs of patients during MR procedures.

Demonstrate proficiency in 100+ MR protocols and assist in developing new techniques unique to DUHS. Facilitate research by scanning with given protocols and teach applications to new technologists, physicians, and researchers. DUHS offers career growth through a clinical ladder program in Imaging services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT or ARMRIT approved health sciences program in magnetic resonance, nuclear medicine, radiography, or radiation therapy
  • Proficiency in operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment
  • Ability to perform complex tasks to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts
  • Knowledge of Image Archival System
  • Experience with cardiac MRI protocols and patient screening for MR safety
  • Skill in evaluating scans for technical quality and preparing preliminary reports
  • Familiarity with power injectors and contrast media administration

Responsibilities

  • Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance
  • Assist Cardiologist with Cardiac procedure protocoling and performance
  • Start I.V.s and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol
  • Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and label appropriately
  • Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow involving multiple MR sites
  • Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration
  • Assist radiologists and physicists in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques
