About this role

CT Technologist competently operates CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures. These include body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic, and extremity imaging. Full-time role in AMC Grafton - CT department with 36 hours per week.

Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders for exam accuracy. Positions patient, selects proper scanning factors, adjusts for appropriate images, and provides radiation protection per regulatory agencies. Prepares and administers contrast media under Radiologist direction.

Follows 7/72 model with 7 days working followed by 7 days off, including every other weekend. Requires 2 holiday shifts a year and 1 call shift on holiday. Staffing hours: Thursday & Friday 1030-2100, Saturday & Sunday 0900-2100, Monday & Tuesday 1030-2030, Wednesday 1030-2000.

Post-processes images, labels with patient details, and maintains records for regulatory compliance. Performs equipment quality assurance, identifies issues, and evaluates new products. Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific patient care needs across the life span.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 18 months
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology
  • No experience required
  • Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served

Responsibilities

  • Competently operates CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures, including body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic and extremity
  • Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy
  • Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain appropriate images, and provides radiation protection and safety
  • Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist, and assists in proper scanning techniques
  • Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images with patient name, MRU number, and scan position
  • Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies and documents billing codes for accurate patient charges
  • Identifies equipment performance issues, performs quality assurance tests and calibration procedures, and reports malfunctions
  • Performs patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique
