About this role

At Franciscan Urgent Care, MRI Technologists work closely with patients to ensure they understand the MRI procedure and are comfortable and safe during procedures. They perform injection procedures, including administering gadolinium contrast dosage intravenously. This PRN role supports direct patient care in a dynamic urgent care setting.

Technologists practice established safety guidelines and use MRI safety tools and techniques to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. They collaborate on patient medical issues with physicians to determine protocol and procedure. Daily tasks include obtaining patient history, screening for contraindications like ferrous implants, and updating EMR and PACS.

Perform venous punctures using universal precautions for contrast media administration. Maintain equipment through sterilization and restock examination rooms with necessary inventory. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 8a to 6p, with up to 20% travel required.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Radiology (required)
  • Relevant Advanced Degree in MRI (required)
  • 2 years MRI experience (preferred)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT-MR) certification from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) from American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with patients to ensure they understand the MRI procedure and are comfortable and safe
  • Perform injection procedures, including administering gadolinium contrast dosage intravenously
  • Provide direct patient care

  • Obtain and record patient identification and medical history, including screening for ferrous implants and contraindications
  • Perform venous punctures using universal precautions for contrast media administration
  • Restock examination room with necessary inventory and maintain equipment sterilization
