A day in the life of a CT Technologist involves performing x-ray and CT procedures as prescribed by a physician. Instruct patients on proper physiological requirements, prepare and administer barium, and ascertain area of injury or symptoms to assist diagnosis. Recognize reactions to contrast media and intervene with CPR when necessary.
Work in a patient-focused team with a cohesive and friendly environment and supportive atmosphere. Assure consent forms are signed, process exam information, and assist with clerical tasks including patient records. Actively participate in quality assurance monitoring and recording efforts.
Reduce radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self using proper technical factors, collimation, and shielding. Report equipment malfunctions and perform preventative maintenance. Take initiative for professional advancement through personal assessment and action plans with supervisors.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent and completion of a training program in imaging technology from an accredited school
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (CT)
- Ability to perform radiographic and CT imaging procedures
- Knowledge of contrast media reactions and emergency intervention including CPR
- Familiarity with processing exam information and clerical operations
- Understanding of radiation safety protocols and minimization techniques
- Compliance with corporate policies, OSHA regulations, and quality assurance processes
Responsibilities
