About this role

The CT Tech - Clinic arranges patients for Computed Tomography examinations and produces CT images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Ensures patient safety by using pre-established imaging protocols and screens patients for safe administration of contrast media.

Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Demonstrates radiologic principles and theory, anatomy and pathology processes using the most appropriate technique and position for optimal examinations.

Effectively communicates with patient to obtain clinical history and informed consent. Explains procedures to patients and families to ease anxiety and assure cooperation. Assists physician in performing examinations using standard protocols, isolation precautions and sterile technique.

Identifies and resolves clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with exams. Maintains orderly, safe and clean environment with supplies readily available. Participates in department performance improvement initiatives, in-services and meetings.

Initially may require instruction and guidance to accomplish the job. Develops into performing work under general supervision. Operates imaging equipment according to manufacturer's specifications and performs daily calibrations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate radiologic principles and theory, anatomy and pathology processes
  • Adhere to policies and protocols ensuring examinations are optimized for interpretation
  • Communicate with patient to obtain clinical history and informed consent
  • Explain procedures to patients and families to ease anxiety and assure cooperation
  • Identify and resolve clinical or emergent problems interfering with exams
  • Demonstrate patient safety using side rails, braking mechanisms and monitoring
  • Troubleshoot equipment effectively and report problems to biomedical engineering
  • Participate in department performance improvement initiatives and meetings
