About this role

The Lead OB/GYN Sonographer performs obstetrical, gynecological, and fetal echocardiogram ultrasound examinations as ordered. These exams occur at all OSUWMC Ambulatory Imaging locations, inpatient care sites, and MFM/WI contracted Outreach sites. The role leads while handling all standard OB/GYN sonographer duties.

Coordinates daily workflow, assignments, and patient flow to support smooth department operations. Provides assistance to the Imaging Manager in assessing sonographer performance. Orients new staff to the Women’s Imaging Department procedures and protocols.

Works within Ambulatory Services | Women's Imaging at Outpatient Care Upper Arlington. Supports the team during manager absences or vacancies by covering additional responsibilities. Operates in a high-volume women's imaging environment focused on high-risk cases.

Gains leadership experience through workflow coordination and staff support. Contributes to department efficiency and patient care quality. Advances in a university medical center setting with outreach opportunities.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited ultrasound school
Registry eligible or certified by the ARDMS in OB/GYN
Certified by the ARDMS for the specialty OB/GYN examination
Previous and significant high-risk OB/GYN ultrasound experience
Ability to perform exams at ambulatory, inpatient, and outreach sites

Responsibilities
