About this role

Competently performs diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Responsible for all commonly performed echocardiography procedures in the department with a high level of competence. Aligns with the policies, values and mission of the organization.

In addition to Level I duties, performs transesophageal echocardiograms with or without three dimensional imaging. Conducts intra operative transesophageal echocardiograms, structural heart procedures in the cardiac cath lab, and complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms. Anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, subject to change.

Works independently and as part of a team in an environment with interruptions, accomplishing multiple tasks. Builds collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives. Ensures the privacy of each patient’s protected health information.

May be responsible for performing specific procedures and orienting other staff to the department. Prioritizes assignments within standardized operating procedures to meet deadlines. Operates and maintains imaging equipment with intermediate knowledge responding to traumas and emergencies.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program or equivalent Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
  • RCS (CCI)-Registered Cardiac Sonographer or ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • 2 years recent relevant experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles, procedures, and views
  • Proficient in performing cardiac sonographic examinations with understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, RIS, LIS, EHR, EPIC, PACS

  • Handles all commonly performed echocardiography procedures with high competence
  • Performs transesophageal echocardiograms with or without three dimensional imaging
  • Conducts intra operative transesophageal echocardiograms
  • Performs structural heart procedures in the cardiac cath lab
  • Performs complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms
  • Orients other staff to the department as needed
