About this role

Under the supervision of a radiologist, the CT Technologist performs Computerized Tomographic examinations on patients following established protocols. Ensures quality imaging and prepares patient information for physician and care team review. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after procedures.

Operates CT scanners to produce radiographs per departmental procedures, ensuring quality for diagnostic purposes. Positions patients accurately and adjusts positioning or dosages as anatomical circumstances require. Implements radiation safety guidelines and proper protection during the imaging process.

Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values. Maintains CT scanning equipment through scheduled cleaning and testing, reporting malfunctions. Creates hardcopy records and completes exams in Radiology Information System, performing QC in PACS for billing accuracy.

Performs other duties as directed by lead technologists or supervisors, including quality assurance tasks. Maintains continuing education required for licensure and certification. Demonstrates proper filming procedure and critiques films for clarity and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of RIS systems
  • Knowledge of PACS systems
  • IV Certification
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • CT Registry
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40-50 lbs; push/pull patients on bed or stretcher.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Operates CT scanners to produce radiographs according to departmental procedures; ensures the quality of pictures are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ensures accurate positioning and proper preparation for patients during scanning procedures; conducts timely adjustments of patient position and/or medical dosages according to anatomical circumstances and other technical factors.
  • Demonstrates proper filming procedure and critiques films to ensure accuracy and clarity for physician interpretation.
  • Implements radiation safety guidelines and conducts proper radiation protection during the imaging process.
  • Creates hardcopy record of exam via CD-R, films and data transfer to PACS. Completes exam in Radiology Information System. Performs QC on exam in PACS to maintain system and billing accuracy.
  • Maintains CT scanning equipment by performing scheduled cleaning, testing and documenting results; notifies supervision of malfunctioning equipment.
