About this role

This position performs diagnostic CT procedures within the CT Department, utilizing specific equipment for that purpose. The role also involves rotating through diagnostic radiology as assigned, ensuring adherence to radiation and general safety practices at all times.

Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing rooms, equipment, and materials for patient exams, including sterile technique. You will perform examinations per Physician's orders, explain procedures to patients, and document any variations from protocol due to patient condition or other unknown causes.

You will observe both patients and equipment, reporting any unusual occurrences or changes, and will transport and assist patients as needed. Maintaining high quality care involves documenting variances, repeats, and other occurrences to support quality improvement initiatives.

This role is part of a dedicated team at WVU Medicine, offering the opportunity to work across CT and diagnostic radiology. The position provides a pathway to develop expertise in advanced imaging while contributing to a comprehensive healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
  • Radiography certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) within 6 months of hire.
  • Must possess current or temporary Radiography license as required by state board where services will be provided.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic CT procedures within the CT Department utilizing specific equipment for that purpose.
  • Rotates through diagnostic radiology as assigned.
  • Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patient exams, including sterile technique.
  • Cleans and disinfects rooms and equipment following each patient exam, using current infection control policies.
  • Performs examinations per Physician’s orders and explains procedures to patients.
  • Documents any variations from protocol due to patient’s condition or other unknown cause and relays patient history and clinical data to Radiologist.
  • Observes patient and equipment and reports any unusual occurrences or changes.
  • Documents status of patient in reference to radiology/CT procedure on patient’s chart, including variances and repeats.
