About this role

We are a physician-led, patient-centric network committed to simplifying health care and bringing a more connected kind of care. As a CAT Scan Technologist, you will perform radiographic and CAT scan examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.

In this role, you will prepare and assist patients for CAT scan procedures as requested by a physician, review patient orders in advance, and educate patients about procedures including contrast material administration. You will set up equipment by selecting appropriate protocols and obtain optimum quality images through proper anatomical positioning and slice thickness.

You will work under the direction of the Chief Technologist or designee, assuming responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Requirements

  • Ability to perform radiographic and CAT scan examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
  • Independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of proper anatomical positioning, slice thickness, and other techniques in accordance with radiologist protocols.
  • Ability to prepare and administer intravenous contrast media and educate patients on its contraindications and adverse effects.
  • Familiarity with PACS systems and HIPAA compliance for patient data handling.
  • Commitment to following ALARA and Image Gently safety principles.
  • Ability to maintain a daily log of patients and ensure cleanliness of equipment and working area.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assist patients for CAT scan procedures as requested by a physician, and review patient orders in advance to ensure proper exam has been requested.
  • Educate patients about procedures to be performed, including contrast material administration and its possible contraindications and adverse effects.
  • Set up CAT scan equipment and apparatus by selecting appropriate protocols required for any prescribed procedures.
  • Obtain optimum quality CAT scan images through employment of proper anatomical positioning, slice thickness, and other required techniques in accordance with radiologist protocols.
  • Instruct patients with proper pre and post scan instructions, including Barium and IV prep, breathing instructions during the scan, and post scan instructions.
  • Prepare intravenous contrast media and operate Radiographic or Bone Density equipment for diagnostic quality imaging.
  • Verify proper patient identification on the study and route it to PACS, and process studies onto CD for patient study requests while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain a daily log of patients seen, and ensure cleanliness of equipment and working area.
