About this role

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will perform ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner, using cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.
In this role, you will thoroughly understand the operation of the ultrasound machine and utilize new technologies to perform a variety of ultrasound examinations. You will establish and maintain ethical working relationships and good rapport with patients and all organizational staff, displaying empathy, compassion, and integrity even during moments of high stress.
You will coordinate work with physicians or other healthcare team members, including providing assistance during invasive procedures when applicable. You may also supervise and train students and medical sonographers as needed, and assist with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment that values professional growth and self-motivation. Based on the facility, some Sanford markets may expand job responsibilities to include echocardiography, allowing you to broaden your skills within the field.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma, or a minimum of one year equivalent work experience preferred.
- Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible.
- Registry preferred within two years after hiring.
- If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
- For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
Responsibilities

- Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations.

- Maintain a high standard of medical ethics and be self-motivated to increase understanding and knowledge of the sonography field.
- Coordinate work with physicians or other healthcare team members, including providing assistance during invasive procedures when applicable.
- Supervise and train students and medical sonographers as needed.
- Assist with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes.
