Medical Sonographers use sound waves to image the human body, working as both individual-care-providers and as part of a diagnostic-team. As a Sonographer 1, you will be in training to become a registered Medical Sonographer by the ARDMS, ARRT or CCI.

You will work under the guidance of the Ultrasound Supervisor, Radiologists, Cardiologists and/or Physician. More than 90% of patients surveyed indicated they would definitely recommend our facility, recognized by Healthgrades with the Outstanding Patient Experience Award eight years in a row.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required.
  • Successful completion of an Allied Health Education Program (including but not limited to Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Radiologic Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and Registered Nurse) and 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound/cardiac/vascular experience (one of the required experience options).
  • Attending a CAAHEP-approved or CMA-approved ultrasound/cardiac/vascular technology education program (alternative experience option).
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound/cardiac/vascular experience (alternative experience option).
  • BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Registration as a Medical Sonographer (ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI) required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Use sound waves to image the human body as both an individual-care-provider and part of a diagnostic-team.
  • Work under the guidance of the Ultrasound Supervisor, Radiologists, Cardiologists and/or Physician.
  • Perform tasks abiding by policies and procedures, state and corporate regulations.
  • Apply imaging techniques based on knowledge of human anatomy, principles of imaging, positioning techniques, biology, pathology, patient care procedures, physics and equipment instrumentation.
  • Participate in all mandatory staff meetings, in-services and training programs to ensure continued understanding of departmental policies, procedures and performance improvement processes.
