About this role

Perform high quality obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations and procedures. This per diem position requires becoming well trained in the use and daily maintenance of the ultrasound imaging and recording system used in the department.

Daily duties include setting up ultrasound and procedure equipment, positioning patients appropriately, and operating ultrasound with or without physician guidance when appropriate. Procedures may include saline infusion sonography (SIS), amniotic fluid assessment, fetal viability exams, limited to detailed and complete obstetric ultrasound, biometry, fetal well-being assessments, Doppler studies, fetal echocardiograms, and first trimester screening.

You will generate reports on examinations and procedures, ensuring they are sent to referring physicians, and submit billing with appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes. Additionally, you will demonstrate techniques and procedures to students and residents as assigned through the Department of OB/GYN.

This role offers the opportunity to advance your expertise in maternal fetal medicine while maintaining certification through ARDMS and pursuing Fetal Medicine Foundation certification within one year. Ongoing CME credits are required to sustain registration.

Requirements

  • Active certification by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in OB/GYN
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an ultrasound technologist
  • Maternal fetal medicine experience preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
  • Certification with Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) to perform first trimester nuchal translucency for risk assessment within one year of hire
  • Maintenance of required CME credits for registration with ARDMS

Responsibilities

  • Set up ultrasound and procedure equipment and position patients appropriately
  • Operate ultrasound with or without physician guidance for gynecologic and obstetric examinations, including SIS, amniotic fluid assessment, fetal viability, detailed obstetric ultrasound, biometry, fetal wellbeing assessments, Doppler studies, fetal echocardiograms, CVS, amniocentesis, and first trimester screening
  • Process and label samples for laboratory submission
  • Generate reports on examinations and procedures and ensure they are sent to referring physicians
  • Submit billing for patients with appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes
  • Demonstrate techniques and procedures to students and residents as assigned through the Department of OB/GYN
  • Perform decontamination on equipment
