About this role
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Charge Technologist or designate, the General Duty Sonographer performs ultrasound services as defined at regional and local levels and as requested by Physicians. This role involves effective patient management, exam requests, and diagnostic file management.
Daily duties include preparing patients, operating ultrasound equipment, and capturing diagnostic images for physician review. The sonographer manages equipment and supplies while maintaining standards put forth by Accreditation, and performs work in accordance with the Mission and Values of Shared Health, current policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
Shared Health leads the planning and coordination of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. This position is based at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, within the Bethesda Diagnostic Imaging department, and is part of a collaborative healthcare team dedicated to high-quality diagnostic services.
This term position offers the opportunity to contribute to a leading health organization while gaining valuable experience in a community hospital setting. The anticipated start date is July 2, 2026, through April 12, 2027, covering a maternity leave, with support for maintaining accreditation standards and professional development.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved and accredited Ultrasound training program.
- Active registration status with Sonography Canada in the appropriate practitioner category (or exemption with ARDMS and competency determination).
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training in accordance with Employer policy.
- Patient care experience preferred.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communications skills.
- Understanding of office applications in a Windows environment with experience working with Microsoft Office programs preferred.
