About this role

Select Specialty Hospital - Dallas Downtown (Desoto) is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing. The CT Technologist / Radiologic Technologist plays a central role in delivering compassionate diagnostic imaging during vulnerable moments of patient recovery.

In this PRN role you prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and ensuring comfort. You operate the CT scanner to produce cross-sectional images, administer contrast media as directed, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions throughout each study.

You work within a specialized team of over 44,000 professionals committed to exceptional care at a facility focused on extended recovery. Daily collaboration with physicians and clinical staff supports accurate diagnostics in a high-acuity inpatient setting.

The position begins with an extensive orientation program and offers a clear path to demonstrate skills for potential full-time advancement. Per diem staff also gain access to 401k eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within the first anniversary year.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist and hold current state license (as required).
  • At least 1 year experience as a CT Technologist (not including school).
  • Must have ARRT or CMRT certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must be current with Continuing Education in all fields of licensure.
  • Experience operating facility-specific equipment desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the patient for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and creating a comfortable environment.
  • Use proper patient positioning and technical factors to consistently produce quality diagnostic studies.
  • Correctly operate a CT scanner to produce cross-sectional images of desired patient anatomy.
  • Administer contrast media as directed by referring physician.
  • Monitor the patient for any adverse drug events and report accordingly.
  • Perform routine quality assurance on equipment and identify basic malfunctions.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones as needed.
