About this role
The Lead MFM sonographer plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality maternal fetal medicine services. This position coordinates team performance and supports both clinical and administrative operations. It is based out of the Tacoma location.
Performs detailed maternal fetal ultrasound assessments including functional assessments and obstetrical examinations in all three trimesters. Specialty exams such as twin to twin transfusion evaluations and cardiac assessments are conducted as needed. Guidance is provided for inpatient and outpatient fetal procedures including shunt placement and IUT.
Day-to-day supervision of MFM sonographers includes performance oversight and workflow accountability. Input is provided into formal performance evaluations in coordination with the Clinic Manager. Regional site accreditation and compliance are maintained and supported.
Prenatal and postnatal studies are assessed to meet AIUM QI requirements. Scanning protocols are developed, updated, and implemented. Onboarding and training for new sonographers and staff are assisted as part of ongoing operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Completion of and graduation from a formal AMA approved ultrasound technology program or equivalent experience
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) credentialed or able to obtain within 12 months of employment
- BLS for Healthcare Providers
Responsibilities
- Serve as clinical guidance and on-site point person for sonographers
- Provide day-to-day supervision of MFM sonographers including performance oversight and workflow accountability
- Perform detailed maternal fetal ultrasound assessment including functional assessments
- Perform basic and detailed obstetrical ultrasound examinations in all three trimesters including transvaginal and transabdominal scanning
- Perform specialty ultrasound exams such as twin to twin transfusion evaluations and cardiac assessment
- Provide guidance for in and outpatient fetal procedures such as shunt placement, IUT, and fetal surgery
- Maintain and support regional site accreditation and compliance
- Assess prenatal and postnatal studies to meet AIUM QI requirements and support development of scanning protocols
