Under the direction of the Sonographer Coordinator, performs with minimal supervision a diversity of technical ultrasound assignments, diagnostic and complex in nature. These require theoretical insight and experience. Exercises complex skill, judgment, and knowledge of the principles and methods of the radiographic technical field.

Handles ultrasound procedures independently, focusing on diagnostic imaging in medical settings. Applies specialized knowledge to capture high-quality images for physician review. Ensures accuracy in complex assignments typical of sonography roles.

Works in a collaborative radiology environment, enhancing the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling. Deals with the public professionally while managing confidential patient information. Meets deadlines and juggles multiple priorities with computer literacy.

Opportunities for professional growth include pursuing preferred registrations like ARDMS within one year. Builds on training from approved ultrasound schools with additional specialized experience. Advances skills in varied ultrasound technology over time.

Requirements

  • Completion of training at an approved school in Ultrasound
  • BLS required through the RQI system
  • Preferred: ARDMS within one year of hire
  • Preferred: Three years of varied ultrasound technology experience
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Computer literacy required
