About this role
In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Cardiovascular Sonographer operates ultrasound equipment to obtain cardiovascular diagnostic images. Assists in interpretation of ultrasound images. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Provides a sonographer's impression and maintains adequate stock of supplies by checking inventory regularly. Enters orders correctly and properly utilizes multiple computer systems including Meditech, Chartmaxx, iSite, and Merge. With appropriate education, training and validation, uses proper technique for intravenous line insertion, administers Definity and discontinues lines according to protocol.
Assists with the rotation of diagnostic imaging students in the Cardiovascular Lab. Requires 75% attendance at monthly department meetings and Cardiovascular QA meetings for both Cardio (Echo) Lab and Vascular Lab. Works with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Maintains compliance in RQI and assumes all other duties as necessary. Demonstrates knowledge and skills for care appropriate to patient ages served. Shows critical thinking, decisive judgment, excellent interpersonal skills and effective listening.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Sonography Program
- New graduate or documented experience working within Cardio (echo) Lab or Vascular Lab
- Registered Cardiac Diagnostic Sonographer (RDCS) certification through ARDMS within 1 year
- RVT certification within 2 years of employment
- Non-certified role offered for maximum of two years while working toward certification
- BLS required
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision in fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
