About this role

Coordinates functions between the Imaging and Patient Care Teams. Performs Vascular Ultrasound exams utilizing extensive knowledge of vascular ultrasound equipment. Directs and instructs other team members while overseeing technologists and ancillary staff in a fast-paced environment.

Assists the Vascular Ultrasound Supervisor with coordinating daily functions of the department, including running the Vascular Lab in the supervisor's absence. Works to coordinate efficient exam schedules, tracks supplies, and performs assigned exams. Ensures accurate and timely exams by coordinating with patient care teams.

Works closely with radiologists, nurses, physicians, other hospital staff, and referring outside offices to ensure excellence in patient care. Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff. Maintains reports, records, and collects statistics, sending preliminary reports to reading radiologists or vascular surgeons.

Acts as an educational resource to patients, observing students, and coworkers. Participates in quality improvement audits and meetings. Responsible for maintaining credentials and CME requirements for registration under the guidance of the Vascular Ultrasound Supervisor and Executive Director of Diagnostic Imaging.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or certification through an accredited ultrasound program OR Bachelor’s degree in ultrasound or radiologic field
  • 2-3 years of Vascular Ultrasound work experience
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) OR Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
  • Proficiency in Carotid studies
  • Proficiency in Upper and lower extremity venous including venous insufficiency
  • Proficiency in Upper and lower arterial duplex including bypass grafts and stents
  • Proficiency in PVR, Mesenteric arterial duplex, and Fistulas

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Vascular Ultrasound Supervisor with coordinating the daily functions of the Vascular Ultrasound Department
  • Run the Vascular Lab in absence of the supervisor
  • Coordinate efficient exam schedules and track supplies within the department
  • Perform vascular ultrasound exams and assigned tasks
  • Assist with data collection and submittal of documents to the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission
  • Participate in the interviewing and evaluating process for vascular technologists
  • Assure delivery of quality vascular ultrasound studies following IAC guidelines
  • Act as an educational resource to patients, observing students and coworkers
