About this role

Geisinger is seeking a dedicated Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our team at Geisinger Community Medical Center. In this role, you will administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes, performing CT and molecular imaging procedures with a focus on patient safety and image quality.

Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, verifying clinical history, and optimizing technical factors while applying the ALARA principle. You will also evaluate images for proper positioning and quality, and document medication and radiation exposure in compliance with regulatory standards.

You will work within a clinical environment alongside licensed practitioners, assisting with interventional CT procedures and providing education to students and other healthcare providers. The team values kindness, excellence, and a patient-first approach in everything we do.

Requirements

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field of Study (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and documented while respecting confidentiality
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors to maximize patient safety and apply ALARA principles
  • Prepare and administer medications through new or existing vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality, and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data
  • Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers during CT procedures
  • Assist a licensed practitioner with interventional computed tomography procedures
  • Perform computed tomography procedures independently as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
