About this role

UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with eight hospitals, four medical centers, and more than 1,000 providers. As a CT Technologist at Jewish Hospital, you will perform CT scans according to established protocols with a high degree of accuracy and attention to radiation safety.

Your day-to-day involves assessing patients, positioning them correctly, and administering contrast media per hospital policy. You will also assist radiologists with intricate examinations, including tissue biopsies and fluid drainages, while maintaining knowledge of human cross-sectional anatomy and pathology.

You will work within a collaborative Diagnostic Imaging Department alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The role includes training radiologic technology students and new personnel in CT scan positioning and technique, contributing to a culture of education and quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • ARRT certification in Radiography.
  • CT certification or eligibility to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Current Kentucky state licensure as a radiologic technologist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform venipuncture and administer contrast media safely.

Responsibilities

  • Produces CT scans according to established protocols within the Diagnostic Imaging Department with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Assesses patients to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure, including correct patient identification and order verification.
  • Prepares for and assists the radiologist with intricate CT examinations, including tissue biopsies and fluid drainages.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media in accordance with hospital policy, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs venipuncture and contrast injections following department and hospital guidelines.
  • Evaluates finished images and series for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality.
  • Demonstrates good radiation safety practices, including use of correct FOV and lead shields, and determining pregnancy status when appropriate.
  • Instructs radiologic technology students in CT scan positioning and technique.
