Perform echocardiograms on a uniquely complex patient population to aid diagnosis and treatment. Operate and troubleshoot ultrasound and echocardiography equipment for efficient performance. Prepare written and electronic reports documenting procedures and test results while handling patient responsibilities.

Work within the Echocardiography Laboratory at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital, reporting to the Manager. Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized post-diploma Cardiovascular Principles and Instrumentation (C.P.I.) program
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II Basic Rescuer Certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent cardiac ultrasound experience
  • Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Registration with Sonography Canada or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to function effectively in stressful situations

Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound imaging procedures as outlined in procedure manuals to aid in patient diagnosis and/or treatment
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and ensure ultrasound, echocardiography equipment and instruments perform efficiently and effectively
  • Prepare written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results
  • Perform other related patient handling responsibilities to facilitate optimal patient care
  • Participate in teaching, educational, research, safety and quality improvement programs/activities
  • Observe and understand hospital and departmental policies and procedures while maintaining patient confidentiality
