The role of a registered diagnostic medical sonographer involves independently performing standard and complex ultrasound examinations and assisting physicians in the course of ultrasound-guided interventional procedures. This position requires a skilled professional capable of handling a variety of exam types including general, OBGYN, abdominal, small parts, and vascular ultrasounds.

The sonographer will be responsible for performing ultrasound exams using state-of-the-art equipment and must be knowledgeable of ultrasound equipment and ancillary accessories. They will also utilize personal computers, RIS, HIS, and PACS to manage patient data and imaging records.

Working in a hospital setting, the sonographer assists physicians during interventional procedures, requiring a solid understanding of anatomy and basic pathology. The role demands current ARDMS certification and a valid BLS/CPR card, maintained through continuing education credits.

The sonographer is expected to maintain active ARDMS certification through continuing education credits, ensuring ongoing proficiency. The variety of exams, from general to vascular, keeps the daily work engaging and clinically challenging.

Requirements

  • Current ARDMS certification maintained via continuing education credits.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR card.
  • Experience with general, OBGYN, abdominal, small parts, and vascular ultrasounds.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and basic pathology associated with exams performed.
  • Knowledgeable of ultrasound equipment and ancillary accessories.
  • Proficient with personal computer, RIS, HIS, and PACS.
  • Ability to perform essential physical requirements of the job.
  • Breast and neonatal ultrasound experience preferred.
