This position performs diagnostic CT procedures within the CT Department, utilizing specialized equipment and rotating through diagnostic radiology as assigned. The role involves practicing radiation and general safety at all times, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient care.

Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing rooms and equipment with sterile technique, cleaning and disinfecting following each exam per infection control policies, and performing examinations per physician orders. The technologist documents any protocol variations, relays patient history and clinical data to the Radiologist, and observes both patient and equipment for unusual occurrences.

The role operates within a hospital-based, multi-state health system environment, supporting multiple locations across Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The CT Technologist works collaboratively with radiologists and other imaging staff to maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-focused workflow.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
  • Radiography certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) within 6 months of hire.
  • Current or temporary Radiography license as required by state board where services will be provided (Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
  • One (1) year of experience as a computed tomography technologist (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares room, equipment, and materials for patient exams, including sterile technique.
  • Cleans and disinfects rooms and equipment following each patient exam using current infection control policies.
  • Performs examinations per physician’s orders and explains procedures to patients.
  • Documents any variations from protocol due to patient’s condition or other unknown cause and relays patient history and clinical data to the Radiologist.
  • Observes patient and equipment and reports any unusual occurrences or changes.
  • Transports and assists patients as needed.
  • Documents status of patient in reference to radiology/CT procedure on patient’s chart.
  • Documents variances, repeats, and other occurrences to help maintain high quality health care.
