About this role

This position performs diagnostic CT procedures within the CT Department, utilizing specific equipment for that purpose. The technologist is also involved in the practice of radiation and general safety at all times, rotating through diagnostic radiology as assigned.

On a daily basis, the CT technologist prepares the room and equipment for patient exams, including maintaining sterile technique, and cleans and disinfects after each patient exam following current infection control policies. They perform examinations per physician orders, explain procedures to patients, and document any variations from protocol due to patient condition.

The technologist observes patients and equipment closely, reporting any unusual occurrences or changes, and transports and assists patients as needed. They document the patient's status in reference to the radiology/CT procedure on the patient chart, and document variances and repeats to maintain high quality care and support quality improvement.

This role offers exposure to a variety of imaging settings through rotation across diagnostic radiology. WVU Medicine provides an environment that values continuous quality improvement and professional development.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
  • Radiography certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) within 6 months of hire.
  • Current or temporary radiography license as required by state board where services will be provided (Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of state criminal background check and federal background check if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures practice of radiation safety and general safety protocols at all times.
