About this role
This role performs a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation, with a primary focus on CT scans as directed by physicians. As a CT Technologist at Prisma Health, you will be the difference in patient care by ensuring accurate imaging and compassionate service.
Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying patients and procedures, positioning patients accurately for all CT scans, and communicating with nursing or physicians regarding patient needs. You will also manage IV contrast administration, operate the PACs system, and perform warm-up calibrations as needed.
You will work closely with radiologists to determine appropriate protocols for each exam, ensuring correct scans are performed and studies are taken for interpretation in a timely manner. The team environment emphasizes collaboration, training co-workers and students, and assisting other technologists when not busy in the assigned CT room.

Requirements
- Knowledge of scanning protocols and ability to perform procedures correctly using protocol book for reference.
- Proficiency in filming from imaging workstation, including 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction.
- Ability to respond to codes and other emergency situations appropriately.
- Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed.
- Ability to communicate with radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam.
- Competency in point of care testing.
- Ability to report equipment problems to supervisor and document confirmation numbers.
Responsibilities
- Performs CT scans as directed, applying ionizing radiation for a variety of procedures.
- Identifies patients and procedures, and communicates with nursing or physicians concerning patient care.
- Positions patients accurately for all CT procedures to ensure best visibility of anatomy.
- Administers IV contrast using proper technique, checking IV function with saline injection first.
- Operates the PACs system appropriately and verifies studies before sending to archive.
- Performs warm-up calibrations and maintains competency needed for working in the CT department.
- Trains co-workers and students, and assists other technologists when not busy in assigned CT room.
- Fills out required questionnaires, contrast sheets, and CT forms on all patients as needed.
