About this role
Come work as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Vancouver General Hospital with Vancouver Coastal Health. You will practice within a client and family centred care model across Lower Mainland Medical Imaging health authorities including Fraser Health, Providence Health Care, Provincial Health Services and Vancouver Coastal Health.
You will perform abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular and small parts ultrasound examinations. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, entering data into the diagnostic imaging information system, preparing patients for procedures, and conducting examinations using ultrasound and Doppler techniques.
You will participate on committees, teams, and approved research projects as assigned. You will work collaboratively with physicians, co-workers, and staff of external agencies, while establishing workload priorities in collaboration with others.

Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for Sonography procedures including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular and small parts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic sonographic and medical imaging equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform sonographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and deal effectively with clients, families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, and external agency staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Responsibilities
- Perform abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular and small parts ultrasound examinations.

- Enter relevant data into the diagnostic imaging information system.
- Prepare patients for specific ultrasound procedures.
- Conduct examinations utilizing ultrasound and Doppler techniques while observing patient safety practices.
- Participate on committees, teams, and approved research projects as assigned.
