About this role

Coordinates functions between the Imaging and Patient Care Teams, performing Vascular Ultrasound exams with extensive knowledge of equipment. This role directs and instructs other team members while overseeing technologists and ancillary staff in a fast-paced environment.

Works closely with radiologists, nurses, physicians, hospital staff, and referring outside offices to ensure excellence in patient care. Oversees daily department functions and staffing needs under the guidance of the Vascular Ultrasound Supervisor and Executive Director of Diagnostic Imaging.

Assists the Vascular Ultrasound Supervisor with coordinating daily operations, running the lab in the supervisor's absence, and managing efficient exam schedules. Also supports data collection and document submission to the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

Participates in the interviewing and evaluation process for vascular technologists and acts as an educational resource to patients, observing students, and coworkers. Maintains credentials and CME requirements for registration while performing quality improvement audits.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or certification through an accredited ultrasound program OR Bachelor's degree in ultrasound or radiologic field
  • 2-3 years of Vascular Ultrasound work experience
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification
  • Proven ability to oversee and direct technologists and ancillary staff
  • Experience with IAC accreditation processes and quality improvement
  • Competency in all vascular studies with ability to recognize normal vs abnormal anatomy

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Vascular Ultrasound Supervisor with coordinating the daily functions of the Vascular Ultrasound Department
  • Runs the Vascular Lab in the absence of the supervisor
  • Assists with data collection and submittal of documents to the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission
  • Participates in the interviewing and evaluating process for vascular technologists
  • Coordinates with patient care teams to ensure accurate and timely exams
  • Assures delivery of quality vascular ultrasound studies following IAC guidelines and protocols
  • Acts as an educational resource to patients, observing students, and coworkers
  • Participates in performing quality improvement audits and meetings
