About this role

This role works closely with cardiologists to perform cardiac ultrasound procedures at the technical level, contributing to the efficient operation of the department. The sonographer maintains the standard of care delivered to patients across all age groups, from infants to geriatrics.

Day-to-day duties include planning daily schedules for inpatients and outpatients, performing examinations on ER patients as requested, and selecting and operating appropriate equipment for each exam. The sonographer prepares patients for examinations, explains procedures, and records clinical history, blood pressures, and technologist impressions on CPACS or worksheets.

The sonographer works collaboratively with cardiologists and ordering physicians to provide appropriate patient care, while adhering to all safety precautions including patient safety, infectious control, universal precautions, and ergonomics. The role also involves maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly work area and assisting with equipment maintenance.

This position offers a $20,000 sign-on bonus and a full-time day shift schedule with weekends as needed. The sonographer is expected to maintain or actively pursue ARDMS or RCS registration and remain current regarding developing trends in the field of cardiac ultrasound.

Requirements

  • Must be ARDMS or RCS registered or be actively pursuing registration.
  • One year of clinical experience in a progressive Ultrasound Department or Ultrasound Training Program that meets ARDMS requirements for registry eligibility.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in order to drive to outreach sites and screening events.
  • Must be CPR certified.
  • Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
  • Ability to integrate sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records, and adapt sonographic examination as necessary.
  • Ability to use independent judgment.
  • Ability to evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician.
