About this role

Performs direct and indirect functions in the cardiac cath lab, assisting physicians and staff with the clinical and technical aspects of cardiovascular care. Scrubs, monitors, and circulates in all invasive procedures while ensuring patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Day-to-day responsibilities include executing x-ray for desired views such as abdominal aorta grams and runoffs, storing and printing images, and setting priorities for patient care based on individual needs. The role also involves responding to all cardiac alerts and STEMI cases, with the ability to be onsite within 30 minutes when on call.

The department operates with a four-member team per shift and on call, consisting of one scrub, one RT, one circulating RN, and one monitoring personnel. On call assignment is required after hours, on weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.

This position offers training on Structural Heart scrubbing and the opportunity to work with advanced technology including Philips x-ray equipment, Acist injectors, Philips IVUS/iFR, and Xper Monitoring System. Requirements

  • 6 months of experience in a Cath Lab or Cardiac Intervention Lab
  • Associate degree in Radiology or equivalent
  • Completion of a Basic EKG course
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS certification obtained within 6 months of hire
  • ARRT-CRT certification
  • Ability to respond to emergencies within 30 minutes of alert

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct and indirect functions in the cardiac cath lab, assisting physicians with clinical and technical aspects of cardiovascular care
  • Scrub, monitor, and circulate in all invasive procedures performed in the cath lab
  • Set up and monitor intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and assist with temporary and permanent pacemaker insertion and care
  • Respond to all cardiac alerts and STEMI cases, providing appropriate emergency patient care solutions
  • Execute x-ray for desired views including abdominal aorta grams, runoffs, division, storing, and printing images
  • Assess the physical, psychosocial, and growth and development needs of patients pre-, intra-, and post-procedure
  • Provide teaching and guidance to patients, families, and staff members regarding procedures and care plans
  • Develop and individualize a plan of care for each procedure based on patient problems, needs, and scheduled procedure
