About this role

The Cardiac Sonographer II performs a wide range of technical skills utilized during cardiac procedures in noninvasive cardiology. Operates highly technical equipment and products under the direct supervision of a qualified licensed independent practitioner (LIP). Ensures safe, efficient, and comfortable exams for all patients.

Proficient in patient preparation, assessment, documentation, and monitoring consistent with all policies, procedures, and processes. Focuses on high-quality cardiac imaging studies. Supports comprehensive patient care in a clinical setting.

Works collaboratively in the noninvasive cardiology team environment. Interacts with licensed practitioners and support staff during procedures. Contributes to smooth operations in specialized imaging labs.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International or eligible to complete RCIS/RCES within 2 years from date of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers)
  • Current RCIS or RCES certification for continued employment
  • Previous experience as required by Cardiovascular Credentialing International
  • One (1) year of previous invasive cardiology experience (preferred)
  • PALS and ACLS certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of technical skills during cardiac procedures
  • Operate highly technical ultrasound equipment under LIP supervision
  • Prepare patients for noninvasive cardiac imaging exams
  • Assess patients prior to and during echocardiographic studies
  • Document imaging findings and procedural details
  • Monitor patients to ensure safety and comfort
  • Acquire diagnostic 2D, Doppler, and color flow images of the heart
  • Ensure exams align with policies for efficient patient throughput
