Cardiac and vascular sonographers at The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Center perform non-invasive ultrasound in the modalities of vascular and echocardiography. This role focuses exclusively on echo and vascular testing, developing strong client relationships through excellent patient care.
Day-to-day responsibilities include performing non-invasive vascular and echo testing, following established protocols, and producing the highest possible quality study images and data. Sonographers obtain appropriate patient histories, explain procedures clearly, and ensure all supporting documentation is in order.
The team environment emphasizes collaboration and mutual support to achieve maximum productivity. Sonographers work closely with peers to efficiently schedule add-on and emergency exams, maintain workflow, and keep assigned areas clean and well-stocked with supplies.

Sonographers stay current on new or revised testing protocols and pursue professional continuing education as required for licensure or certification.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited ultrasound training program or has completed on-the-job experience/training
- ARDMS Registry in related ultrasound specialty (echo/vascular) or registry eligible
- At least one year of previous experience performing respective modality, OR must be a graduate of or within 6 months of hire date graduation from a diagnostic ultrasound program (preferably CAAHEP approved)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written/verbal)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with hospital management, physicians, and technologists
- Current knowledge of technology and clinical advances related to cardiac and/or vascular sonography
- Working knowledge of accreditation, credentialing, and quality assurance procedures
- Basic understanding of imager configuration, DICOM standards, and network operations
Responsibilities
- Perform non-invasive vascular and echo testing and all duties of a Sonographer
- Follow established testing protocols to produce the highest possible quality study images and data
- Obtain an appropriate patient history prior to each test and ensure supporting documentation is complete
- Employ ultrasound technology knowledge to determine if an order revision is appropriate and notify the appropriate individual
- Communicate with patient care areas to properly prepare patients and send for them in a timely manner
- Effectively schedule add-on and emergency exams to maintain workflow
- Communicate equipment maintenance needs to the Lead and operate equipment safely and properly
- Participate in Peer Review and departmental process improvement activities as requested
