About this role

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The General Duty Cardiac Sonographer works under the direction of the Manager/Charge Cardiac Sonographer or designate. Responsible for obtaining high quality cardiac ultrasound images and related structures for echocardiography physician interpretation.

Performs cardiac ultrasound examinations to support diagnostic assessments. Assists in the education of new staff, students, patients, and visitors. Participates in research endeavors within the department.

Maintains a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines. Ensures compliance with quality assurance programs and Accreditation standards. Functions align with Shared Health's Mission, Values, policies, and applicable legislation.

Works in the NICT Echo Selkirk department at Selkirk & District General Hospital. Joins a clinical job stream in a unionized environment with MAHCP. Contributes to province-wide health services delivery.

Requirements

  • Complete High School education, Manitoba standards
  • Successful completion of a CMA accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program
  • Certified with Sonography Canada as a Cardiac Sonographer (CRCS) and/or ARDMS
  • Maintain registry status by obtaining required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits
  • Current BCLS (Level C) in accordance with applicable policy
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training per applicable policy
  • One (1) year recent experience as a diagnostic cardiac sonographer preferred
  • Demonstrated computer skills an asset
