About this role

UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with five hospitals, four medical centers, and nearly 200 physician practice locations. The MRI Technologist Lead oversees staff and workflow in the MRI Department while operating a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images for diagnosis and treatment.

This role involves troubleshooting issues with patients and Radiologists, obtaining patient history and screening forms, and explaining routine procedures. The lead also performs quality assurance on the magnetic resonance scanner and maintains patient records and files.

The position supports training and orientation of new employees and requires maintaining professional development and education for technical competency. Participation in hospital and department quality assurance programs ensures ongoing safety and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) required.
  • State of Kentucky License required.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
  • 1 year previous experience in MRI required, 2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee administrative functions and workflow in the MRI Department.
  • Troubleshoot issues with patients and Radiologists.
  • Operate a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
  • Obtain patient history and screening forms, explain routine procedures, and address patient concerns.
  • Support and assist with training and orientation of new employees.
  • Perform quality assurance on the magnetic resonance scanner.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation and monitoring of the department, utilizing resources efficiently.
