Day-to-day responsibilities include operating MRI scanners and performing examinations in accordance with Saskatchewan standards and CAMRT guidelines. The technologist ensures patient safety through thorough screening, explains procedures, and assists with positioning and transport, all while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited MRI technologist program (or equivalent training).
  • Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in MRI.
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPS).
  • Certification in CPR/BLS for healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate MRI equipment and apply safety protocols, including contrast administration.
  • Strong attention to detail for patient identification, screening, and exam accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI scanners and accessory equipment to perform examinations per Saskatchewan and CAMRT standards.
  • Ensure accuracy of consultation requests and verify patient identification without error.
  • Complete thorough patient screening and explain procedures to ensure comfort and clarity.
  • Assist patients with transport and positioning while fulfilling all needs as they arise.
  • Perform routine performance checks on equipment and report non-operational equipment to the site manager.
  • Coordinate with attending physicians for contrast examinations to ensure proper supervision and safety.
  • Maintain departmental imaging quality standards and assist in orienting new employees to routines.
