As an MRI Technologist at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis, you will operate a scanner to obtain high-quality images used to diagnose and treat pathologies. This PRN position offers the flexibility of day shifts in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

In your day-to-day work, you will prepare and position patients, select anatomic and technical parameters, and produce cross-sectional images of the body. You will also perform patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education, as well as prepare and administer contrast media within accepted scope of practice and regulations.

You will work in a clean, orderly department alongside a dedicated team of imaging professionals. Ensuring prompt submission of high-quality images to PACS and monitoring equipment function are key parts of maintaining department standards and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Completion of an MRI or Radiology Technology program.
  • No experience required.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • ARRT-MR Magnetic Resonance Imaging certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) certification.
  • Ability to constantly stand and walk.
  • Ability to frequently lift/carry and push/pull objects weighing 0-25 lbs and lift/move patients.
  • Ability to frequently use hearing and speech to share information and distinguish body sounds or hear alarms.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images of the body.
  • Performs patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education related to the examination.
  • Enters and monitors patient data and transfers images to PACS.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.
  • Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and film storage areas.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
