About this role

WellSpan Health is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to join our Imaging Center team in York, PA. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM, offering a consistent day shift schedule.

In this position, you will perform routine and advanced MRI procedures to produce high-quality magnetic resonance images of designated anatomical areas. You will obtain patient histories, explain procedures, address patient concerns, and administer intravenous contrast media under physician supervision, recognizing and treating complications such as contrast reactions.

As an advanced-level technologist, you will perform at least two specialized exams such as breast biopsy, prostate biopsy, cardiac imaging, or spectroscopy, and may operate all MRI scanners across the organization. You will also train new staff, schedule cases to coordinate with other patient examinations, and ensure MRI safety protocols are followed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 4 years of work experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire required
  • Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - ARRT upon hire required, or Certified MRI Technologist - ARMRIT upon hire required
  • Completion of an accredited program in radiologic technology and training in MRI procedures required
  • Must have passed the MR advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and MRI specialized advanced skill level procedures to produce magnetic resonance images of designated anatomical areas
  • Obtains patient history, explains routine procedures, and addresses patient concerns
  • Functions at a specialized advanced level performing a minimum of two advanced skills specialty exams (breast biopsy, prostate biopsy, cardiac imaging, spectroscopy) and/or performs MRI exams on all scanners within the organization
  • Administers intravenous contrast media under direct supervision of a physician and recognizes complications such as contrast reaction, treating appropriately
  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations
  • Positions and transfers patients comfortably, immobilizes patients as necessary, and practices MRI safety procedures
  • Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department
  • Trains new staff and performs duties as on-call technologist
