For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services.
As an MRI Technologist, you will perform MRI exams by selecting specific software parameters according to established protocols to assist the referring physician in diagnosis. You will prepare and position patients, inject contrast media, and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images.

Requirements
- Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in MRI
- Connecticut state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
- Ability to position patients and operate MRI equipment safely
- Knowledge of MRI safety protocols and contrast media administration
Responsibilities
- Perform MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exams in the hospital by selecting specific software parameters according to established protocols
- Prepare and position patients for MRI procedures
- Inject patients with contrast media as needed
- Select anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images
- Assist the referring physician in diagnosis by producing high-quality diagnostic images
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process
