About this role

The Imaging Department MRI Technologist performs MRI exams and related activities under the general direction of the Lead MRI Technologist. This role supports diagnostic imaging needs at the main clinic with a focus on accurate cross-sectional imaging.

Daily work centers on operating MRI equipment while following established protocols for patient positioning and safety. The technologist manages exam flow during 10-hour shifts that rotate to include Saturdays.

Staff work independently with limited supervision yet coordinate closely with the Lead MRI Technologist and other imaging team members. The environment requires consistent attention to detail and adherence to state and ARRT standards.

Opportunities exist to apply one to three years of MRI experience or three to five years of CT experience within a structured clinic setting. The position supports professional practice through required ARRT MRI certification and ongoing registry maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Graduation from an A.R.R.T. accredited school of X-Ray Technology
  • A.R.R.T. registration in radiography
  • Current Mississippi State Board of Health registration as a Medical Radiation Technologist
  • CPR for health care workers
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • One to three years experience performing MRI or three to five years performing CT scans
  • A.R.R.T. certification in MRI

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI exams and related activities under general direction of the Lead MRI Technologist
  • Apply strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy during imaging procedures
  • Maintain ARRT registration in radiography and Mississippi Medical Radiation Technologist registration
  • Complete CPR requirements for health care workers
  • Work independently with limited supervision across varying 10-hour shifts
