About this role

Competently performs diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Responsible for all commonly performed outpatient adult echocardiography procedures in the department with a high level of competence. Sonographer I is registered with less than 2 years of experience and must have adult TTE experience.

Performs adult transthoracic echocardiography with the ability to perform stress echocardiography, treadmill stress testing, and compose preliminary findings as a plus. Sonographer II performs complex adult transthoracic echocardiograms, bubble studies, ultrasound enhancing agent studies, AV and VV optimization, stress echocardiograms, and treadmill stress testing. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and orienting other staff to the department.

Adheres to the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Works in an outpatient setting handling commonly performed echocardiography procedures. Demonstrates high competence in cardiac sonography amid hospital emergencies and traumas.

Builds collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers to achieve departmental objectives. Prioritizes assignments within standardized operating procedures to meet deadlines. Ensures privacy of each patient’s PHI while working independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program
  • RCS (CCI)-Registered Cardiac Sonographer OR ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • Level I - No experience required
  • Level II - Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles, procedures, and views
  • Proficient in performing cardiac sonographic examinations with understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and related information systems (RIS, LIS, EHR, EPIC, PACS)

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics
  • Conduct outpatient adult echocardiography procedures including adult TTE
  • Perform stress echocardiography and treadmill stress testing
  • Compose preliminary findings
  • Perform complex adult transthoracic echocardiograms
  • Conduct bubble studies and ultrasound enhancing agent studies
  • Perform AV and VV optimization
  • Orient other staff to the department
