About this role

Under immediate to general supervision of a mentor/preceptor, this entry-level position achieves initial competencies to deliver specialized cardiovascular technology services to adult patient populations. Services aid medical staff in diagnosis, care, treatment and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects and diseases. Work occurs in acute inpatient facilities, outpatient practices and outreach clinics.

Prepare patients for procedures and correlate clinical history with those ordered by physicians. Utilize highly specialized cardiovascular equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic procedures per scope of practice guidelines. Provide safe, high quality, efficient and cost-effective patient-centric care under routine or emergent conditions.

Communicate and collaborate with patients, families and multidisciplinary care team to achieve clinical outcomes and service expectations. Conduct post-procedure reviews with or without preceptor to confirm completion, documentation and technical quality consistent with protocols. Transfer images and data to archival systems and prepare studies for physician reporting.

Perform operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfecting and user maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Participate in continuing education, professional development and research activities to maintain competencies. Promote continuous improvements in care and treatments across various care settings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiography program or within six (6) weeks of graduation
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited educational program with emphasis in cardiovascular or radiologic technology preferred
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular ultrasound techniques for adult echo and vascular imaging
  • Ability to perform transthoracic echocardiography and vascular duplex studies
  • Familiarity with ARDMS, ARRT or CCI defined specialties
  • Skills in patient preparation and procedure correlation with clinical history
