About this role

The Senior Cardiovascular Sonographer performs diagnostic vascular examinations, utilizing equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data of the vascular system. Recognized as clinical experts in Vascular Sonography, they perform high skill level ultrasound exams including mesenteric and renal arteries. They participate in the lab accreditation process as well as the quality improvement/assurance process.

Independently perform all diagnostic vascular examinations within ARDMS scope of practice, including high skill level vascular ultrasound exams. Consistently perform at least 50% of high skill level exams that correlate with other modalities like CT, angiography, and surgery. Complete findings for each exam, confirming necessary information per IAC standards and vascular lab protocols, creating permanent recordings in VascuPro.

Regarded as subject matter expert and mentor for Vascular Sonographers and physicians, provide education and training to sonographers, assist teaching students, residents, fellows and new employees. Assist with workflow, scheduling, equipment service needs, and present at OSU annual conference to be recognized regionally and nationally as an expert.

Requirements

  • Recognized as clinical expert in Vascular Sonography
  • Ability to independently perform all diagnostic vascular examinations within ARDMS scope of practice
  • Proficiency in high skill level vascular ultrasound exams such as mesenteric and renal arteries
  • Thorough understanding of clinical indications and vascular procedures performed
  • Experience completing findings per IAC standards and vascular lab protocols
  • Knowledge of creating permanent recordings in VascuPro for analysis and interpretation
  • Skills in correlating ultrasound exams with other modalities like CT, angiography, surgery
  • Ability to mentor sonographers, physicians, students, residents, and fellows

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic vascular examinations utilizing equipment in various modes to locate, evaluate and record data of the vascular system
  • Perform high skill level ultrasound exams including mesenteric and renal arteries at least 50% of the time, correlating with CT, angiography, surgery
  • Participate in lab accreditation process and quality improvement/assurance process
  • Serve as subject matter expert and mentor for Vascular Sonographers and physicians, providing education and training
  • Assist teaching students, residents, fellows and new employees
  • Assist with workflow, scheduling and rescheduling of exams
  • Assist with equipment service needs including preventative maintenance and repair
  • Present at OSU annual conference to develop skills for interesting and organized presentations
