About this role
This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. It requires independent judgment and initiative to competently perform a variety of technical procedures. This role is based at Forbes Hospital in the Allegheny Health Network.
The technologist positions patients and performs imaging procedures independently, analyzing results for quality issues. They take appropriate action such as repositioning and repeating procedures, and enter, transmit, and report scan results. They also review patient history and physician orders, educating patients for understanding and cooperation.
When ordered, the technologist prepares and administers contrast media and medications within scope of practice. They monitor patient condition continually and report or respond to changes in status as appropriate. This requires vigilance and clinical judgment in a fast-paced imaging environment.
The technologist prepares equipment and supplies, selecting appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. They implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions as necessary. This ensures high-quality imaging and patient safety. The role supports the hospital's diagnostic imaging department.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training.
- American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) registered as an MR technologist certification required.
- If ARRT (R) is the only certification, ARRT in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) required within 18 months from hire date.
- CPR certification from American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.
- Prior radiology experience preferred.

- Enter, transmit, and report scan results accurately.
