About this role

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Medical Radiographer is a valuable member of the team providing clinical services to the patient population. Qualified candidates demonstrate superior patient care and adhere to high standards of excellence in breast care services ultrasound.

Produces diagnostic exams, positions and transfers patients, and selects proper technical factors on an individual basis. Operates equipment and provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards, while assisting physicians in administering opaque media and delegating areas of authority in routine or special procedures.

In the absence of the supervisor or senior technologist, may be designated as acting supervisor. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination, conducts periodic quality control tests, and participates in research in required specialty.

Will be required to teach radiology students or appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment. This per diem role offers flexibility while serving a leading academic medical center dedicated to advancing breast imaging.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Radiology Diagnostic Ultrasound Program.
  • ARDMS Registered.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • ARDMS Breast Registered.
  • Two years of Breast Ultrasound experience.
  • Associates degree (preferred).
  • One year of Radiology and/or hospital experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Produce diagnostic exams, position and transfer patients, and select proper technical factors on an individual basis.
  • Select and operate imaging equipment while providing protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Assist physicians in administering opaque media and delegate areas of authority in routine or special procedures.
  • In the absence of supervisor or senior technologist, serve as acting supervisor.
  • Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination, assisting in first aid as necessary.
  • Conduct periodic quality control tests and participate or conduct research in required specialty.
  • Teach radiology students or appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment.
  • Oversee and instruct students in the specific modality.
