About this role
Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under supervision of department supervisor, manager, or director. Role is in Cardiology Department at Bayfront Health Medical Group in St. Petersburg.
Performs routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and vascular ultrasound diagnostics using existing procedure guidelines. Receives instruction from more senior sonographers and uses prescribed policies in analyzing situations. Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy while documenting clinical information.
Works closely with the cardiologist to complete diagnostic exams and functions independently without supervisor. Delivers appropriate care recognizing patient conditions for successful procedures. Complies with state and federal regulations in each modality.

Requirements
- Conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within noninvasive and invasive cardiology and vascular ultrasound
- Ability to use prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations
- Competency in routine cardiology and vascular ultrasound diagnostics
- Knowledge to recognize normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology
- Skill in performing diagnostic sonographic exams under supervision
- Understanding of state and federal regulations applicable to ultrasound modalities
- Ability to assess patient physical condition and age-specific needs
- Proficiency in positioning patients and equipment for high quality images
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance
- Performs routine assignments using existing procedure guidelines
- Receives instruction, guidance, and direction from more senior level sonographers
- Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information
- Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive diagnostic sonographic exams
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care
- Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs
- Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images
