About this role

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a part-time MRI Technologist to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware. The position is responsible for performing magnetic resonance studies while providing quality health care that includes total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment.

The work schedule is Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM and every other Saturday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Excellent communication skills are essential due to continuous interaction with the public and professional medical personnel.

This role operates Siemens and GE MR Scanners with Advantage windows workstations, following routine imaging protocols set by radiologists. The technologist prepares patients for examinations, explains procedures, screens for contraindications, and administers contrast media under direct supervision.

Participation in departmental and hospital programs for quality assessment and improvement is expected, including identifying opportunities to improve services. The technologist also aids in training new personnel, students, and physicians.

Requirements

  • Trade school or college-based training required (e.g., hospital-based program, Associate or Bachelor degree, graduate of an accredited MRI program, or completion of MRI training program).
  • Must be registered as an MR Technologist with ARRT, ARMIT, or CAMRT; OR ARRT registered with MRI board certification within 18 months; OR associate/bachelor’s in allied health with ARDMS or NMTCB certification and MRI board certification within 18 months; OR graduate of accredited MRI program with 6 months supervised clinical MRI scanning experience and registry-eligible through ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB with MRI board certification within 90 days.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience required.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • State of Delaware Radiation License required within 90 days of hire for anyone holding NMTCB licensure only.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, have reliable transportation, and be able to work on an on-call basis.

Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI equipment on Siemens and GE MR Scanners and Advantage windows workstation.
  • Perform patient examinations as set forth in the protocol by the designated radiologist and verify quality of imaging before submission.
  • Provide accurate room preparation and instructions to patient/family, explaining the imaging procedure and answering pertinent questions.
  • Prepare, administer, and document contrast media per departmental protocols under direct supervision of a radiologist/physician, and observe for allergic reactions.
  • Screen patients for contraindications that may be hazardous to their health or the safety of others.
  • Maintain work habits consistent with hospital and departmental policies, report unsafe conditions, and demonstrate safe work habits.
  • Aid in the training of new personnel, students, and physicians.
  • Operate hospital computer systems for patient data entry, retrieval, order entry, and completion of studies.
