Requirements
- Appropriate credential in echocardiography: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from ARDMS
- Or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) from CCI
- Or Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CRCS) from Sonography Canada
- Or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) from CCI
- Additional credential: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from ARDMS
- Or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from CCI
- Or Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography (RT(VS)) through ARRT
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
Responsibilities
- Perform 2-D, M-mode, color flow mapping, and cardiac Doppler echocardiography tests on adult and geriatric patients
- Maintain performance improvement documentation in cardiac and ultrasound in accordance with IAC
- Conduct vascular duplex ultrasound examinations including arterial and venous studies
- Position patients and select appropriate transducers for optimal imaging
- Evaluate echocardiograms and vascular images for diagnostic accuracy
- Document procedural findings and measurements precisely
- Assist in stress echocardiography protocols as needed
