About this role
Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention. Works under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director in the Cardiology department. Schedule includes pool day shift in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, equipment operation, and maintenance. Performs routine assignments using existing procedure guidelines and receives instruction from more senior sonographers. Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology while obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical information.
Works closely with the cardiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams and functions independently in the absence of the supervisor or manager. Requirements
- Conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within the job
- Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations
- Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology
- Obtains and documents pertinent clinical and diagnostic information
- Performs noninvasive and invasive cardiology and vascular ultrasound diagnostics
- Assesses diagnostic images for interpretation
- Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality

Responsibilities

- Performs routine assignments using existing procedure guidelines
- Receives instruction, guidance, and direction from more senior level sonographers
- Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information
- Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care
- Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs
- Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation
